About Dr. Sara Sagui Henson

Founder & Principal Scientsist

I was in my postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF when I came across a statistic I couldn't unsee: On average, it takes 17 years for health research to become routine clinical practice.

Translation: Something uncovered during research could help patients and save lives, but we have to wait nearly two decades to reap the benefits.

I knew there had to be a better way. So, after 15 years in academia earning a PhD in Health Psychology and finishing an NIH-funded postdoc, I left academia to change healthcare in industry.

In 2020, I became the founding clinical researcher at Modern Health, a global digital mental health benefits company. I built their research function from scratch, scaling from zero to 15 peer-reviewed publications and 30+ conference presentations while company revenue grew 10x. Along the way, I watched buyers and investors stop asking just whether people could reach care, and start asking whether it worked and was worth the investment.

Now, digital health companies know they need evidence, but they assume it is slow, resource-heavy, and will pull focus from growth. But it doesn’t have it. And that’s the gap I started Rosewood Research Consulting to close.

You don’t need to slow down to build evidence, you just need to know when to start and where to focus. At Rosewood, we use over a decade of evidence generation experience to help digital health companies execute a research strategy that keeps pace with their business and sharpens their commercial edge.

Because healthcare needs more companies working to deliver care differently and fix what’s broken. My work exists so those companies get the chance to prove their impact, survive long enough to scale, and improve millions of lives in the process.
